Greece govt in talks with BL Agro for adoption of agriculture technology

The Greek government is engaged in discussions with FMCG company BL Agro to explore strategic collaborations in agriculture technology, skilled manpower exchange, promotion of agricultural trade, animal science, and climate change mitigation, as stated in a company press release issued on Tuesday.

Eleftherious Avgenakis, Minister of Rural Development & Food of the Hellenic Republic, expressed the desire to strengthen trade relations with India and enhance cooperation in agriculture and animal sciences. He emphasized the mutual benefits that the farmers’ value chain in both India and Greece could derive from this strategic partnership.

Navneet Ravikar, Chairman & Managing Director of Leads Connect Services (a group company of BL Agro), shared insights from their productive discussions with the Greek minister. They explored opportunities for collaboration across various agriculture sectors.

The talks primarily focused on implementing Indian agricultural technology in Greece. The Minister expressed keen interest in acquiring skilled manpower, advanced agriculture technology, and sustainable methods for climate change mitigation. Additionally, the discussions centered on India’s support in enhancing Greece’s agricultural and veterinary institutions.

Ravikar highlighted their plans to import products such as feta cheese, olive oil, and wine from Greece, while exporting high-quality millets, basmati rice, spices, and other agricultural products from India. Leads Connect has also partnered with JOIST Innovation Park, a Greek startup incubator, to facilitate funding for tech startups in India.

“We aim to bring their expertise in agri-tech to India and are on the verge of signing an agreement to formalize this collaboration,” he stated.
